Lymington Port Ferry Overview
Lymington on the west bank of the Lymington River is a port on the Solent, in the New Forest district of Hampshire, England. It is to the east of the South East Dorset conurbation, and faces Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. The town has a large tourist industry, based on proximity to the New Forest and the harbour. It is a major yachting centre with three marinas.
Lymington is connected to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight by a car ferry, operated by Wightlink. The Wightlink Passenger/Car Ferry to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight takes about 30 minutes and in the summer generally leaves every half an hour.
Lymington is a bustling, colourful town with lots to see and do. Its Georgian High Street is the venue for a well-known street-market every Saturday morning. This is the busiest time for the town, and the popular market boasts a range of stalls selling everything from local fine foods to craftwork and antiques. The high street also offers an extensive range of shops, some very familiar, others as unique and individual as the town itself. For refreshments there are many cafés, restaurants and pubs in which to relax and unwind. |
