Sea France Berlioz - Further Ferry Information and Vessel Description
SeaFrance Berlioz is a ro/pax ferry built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique for Sea France that entered service in 2005. It is currently used for up to ten daily trips between Calais and Dover. SeaFrance Berlioz's offers many onboard facilities including six bars and restaurants, making her one of the most popular ferries on the Dover to Calais route. The Latitudes café bar and the Le Parisien café are located in the ship's bow - the former on the upper deck and the latter on the lower deck. The Latitudes can seat 260 passengers with waiter service for 60 and the Le Parisien café can accommodate 350 diners. The other areas are the Relais self service restaurant, the la Brasserie Restaurant, the Le Pub bar, which has seating for 400 people, and a commercial driver's restaurant catering for 160 people. The Relais is situated at the stern and overlooks the children's play area. It has seating for 350 customers.
She is similar in design to the award-winning SeaFrance Rodin, the company's current flagship. With a capacity of 1,900 passengers and 700 cars, she will also offer a 70-minute Channel crossing time, sailing at a top speed of 25 knots. |
Berlioz is custom designed for the Dover-Calais route and named after the French composer Hector Berlioz, joined the fleet in April, 2005, further strengthening SeaFrance's link with French culture and reflects the continental atmosphere offered on board.
