GLD Lines is a partnership between Grimaldi Group (Naples) and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs, two large European shipowning companies. Grimaldi & Louis Dreyfus Lines operate what they like to call "the first motorway of the sea" between Italy and France. It is a regular maritime service for passengers between the ports of Toulon and Rome.

Speed and comfort are a guaranty onboard the car ferry Sorrento which, thanks to a cruise speed of 22 knots, performs the route of Civitavecchia and Toulon in only 14 hours, linking the two ports three times a week. In summer time, GLD Lines offers a weekly connection between Civitavecchia and Porto Vecchio, linking in 6 hours, Italy and Corsica.
GLD Lines Vessel Sorrento
Built in Italy in 2003, the car ferry Sorrento has a 26.000 Gross Tonnage, a length of 186 metres, a width of 25,6 metres, and a cruise speed of 22 knots. It has a loading capacity of 2.230 linear metres of rolling cargo and 160 cars and can transport up to 820 passengers.
The vessel is equipped with 93 internal and external cabins, (including two suites and two cabins for disabled passengers), with WC, shower and air conditioning, as well as with 62 pullman seats.
The Sorrento is also fitted with a self service restaurant, bars, a cinema, a boutique, a video games & slot machines room and a bar on the sun deck.
