Excelsior is a Car Passenger Ferry in service with the ferry company Grandi Navi Veloci and owned by parent company, Grimaldi Lines. She sails between Genoa, Barcelona and Tangier. Excelsior was built, and entered service in 1999. Excelsior is a large cruise ferry and can hold nearly 2,300 passengers and 760 cars. The Excelsior was the fifth new ship of Grimaldi Group's Grandi Navi Veloci fleet.

The Excelsior is based on the same project as her twin, the Excellent, which was delivered to Grandi Navi Veloci a year before Excelsior.
Grandi Navi Veloci's Excelsior was built in 1999 at the Fincantieri shipyeard of Sestri Ponente. The Excelsior offers superb facilities and services that you would usually expect to find onboard cruise ships. Facilities include a choice of restaurants and bars, a shopping facilities, a cinema, swimming pool and sundeck, jaquzzi baths, a whirlpool, and an arcade. Excelsior has 429 cabins .
