Rosslare Port Ferry Overview
Rosslare Ferry Port is located at Rosslare Harbour in County Wexford, Ireland, at the southeastern-most point of Ireland's coastline. Rosslare is the closest port to the UK and mainland Europe, therefore many major passenger and freight services run from the Rosslare Europort throughout the year. Passenger ferries run from Rosslare connecting Ireland with Wales and France. The harbour currently has four berths. Passenger ferries operate to and from Fishguard and Pembroke in Wales as well as Cherbourg and Roscoff in France.
More than 1.25 million passengers and 320,000 passenger vehicles travel via Rosslare Europort because of its excellent links to the road, rail and bus networks in Ireland and across to continental Europe. Rosslare Europort on the Southern Irish Sea has become a major gateway to France.
Rosslare has been a tourist resort for at least 100 years. It prides itself on being the sunniest spot in Ireland, records state that Rosslare receives 300 hours more sunshine each year than the average place in Ireland. The long sandy strand is a Blue Flag beach so it attracts swimmers and families, while there are a number of good golf courses in the vicinity. The Dublin to Rosslare Europort railway passes through the village. Rosslare offers a choice of hotels and restaurants. |
